my first one room challenge and I need help

Wow, I never thought I would do this but here I am! I am submitting for my first #OneRoomChallenge, and I have too many ideas and need your help. The submissions start April 1st, 2023 so that means I have to get cracking.

Main Bedroom

I actually HATE this room. I’m sorry, I know many people like it. And I like it too, but I HATE it and there is no way of talking me out of it. But here’s how it started:

I’ve never had a vaulted ceiling bedroom before that was this big. I loved the grandeur immediately but was also a little afraid of it. I’ve done clients’ vaulted ceiling bedrooms before, but I mostly kept them white and airy. And I wanted to try something different. I would never suggest a risky design move to any of my clients, but I wanted something unique that I had never seen.

My answer? Paint the walls and ceiling a different color! The walls are Stiffkey Blue and Oval Room Blue from Farrow and Ball. For some reason, I didn’t think it would be such an issue. Oh, the hubris.

I knew deep down it wasn’t working… so I added wallpaper! It’s a very beautiful print Limerence by House of Hackney. #facepalm. It just started dragging it down even farther down the dismal path. And that’s how I feel when I am in this room: Dismal. It feels NOT fresh. The colors are like a bad unwashed clown suit. And I love feeling fresh. The problem is I just kept on making bad decision after bad decision trying to fix the mistakes, but never really corrected the initial problem: the wall and ceiling color.

If I choose to do this room for One Room Challenge, I will take this room back to beginning. It will get a whole new color scheme, wallpaper, headboard, comforter and bedding, and lighting.

I also want to show followers that it’s ok to make mistakes, especially if you are trying something new that’s never been done. Mistakes may be costly, but there are always second chances to make it something truly unique and special.

So that’s option #1!

laundry / garage / studio

Yup. It’s a complete mess. I always laugh when potential clients tell me “I’ll schedule a call with you when I get the space cleaned up.” How droll. If only they could see my garage AKA pit of despair. We moved in and this space just never got addressed. My husband collects models, shoes, camera accessories. Plus, he is not exactly the BEST when it comes to putting away his laundry. He just kinda lays it on the mess and hopes I won’t notice. I do, but I lost this battle long ago.

And then I collect decor and samples and don’t have a very good system because of all of HIS clutter. It’s all his fault, right?

Yes that is a treadmill. Yes, that is a three wheel blue bicycle. Didn’t I already tell everyone I am the “Female PeeWee Herman of Interior Design”???

But I have BIG plans for this space. After all the clutter is taken out, the treadmill folded up against the wall, and some items moved…

THIS will be my online VIDEO tutorial studio!!!

(and laundry and storage…)

I have the moodboards ready to go and the paint samples ordered. I’ve never done a garage before, let alone a space that will function as so many things. But I know I can do it. Heck, I’ve seen enough Pinterest posts to know I can!!! Wow, I hope it doesn’t suck.

HELP ME DECIDE

I will still do the garage space. But FIRST… I want to hit my goal of 500 Cool Club Members. I am still a little off the mark… it’s free to join, so help me get there!!
